The Long Beach Police Department’s hunt for photos with “no apparent esthetic value” quickly became national news last week. Here’s a news segment in which Alyona Minkovski of RT speaks out against the erosion of photographers’ rights in the United States:

I understand that the Department of Homeland Security has a job to do, but we can’t just automatically assume that any photographer out there is a terrorist. At this rate I’m pretty sure that all the hipsters in LA will be locked up in no time.

Hopefully the publicity that these stories receive will make it easier for photo-enthusiasts to shoot in public without being harassed.

Anne Hathaway's Paparazzi Rap On 'Conan'





Appearing on "Conan" Tuesday night, Hathaway went hardcore and busted out a rap verse -- "In the style of Lil Wayne" -- that slammed on the paparazzi that have been chasing her down for years. Though it sounds unlikely that the normally sweet-as-sugar actress could ever get intense like that, just listening is believing.

John Cleese Plays Detective To Get Persistent Paparazzo's Name

John Cleese has asked for the help of his Twitter.com followers as he attempts to identify a photographer who followed him home on Tuesday (09Aug11).

The funnyman was ticked off when the paparazzi caught him shopping and decided to stay on his trail - and so he snapped the guy, posted the picture online and asked fans to help him get the guy's name.

In a series of tweets, the Monty Python star wrote, "Darling Twits, you can help me with a quick experiment... Some Paparazzo guy caught me this morning, followed me home... not content with snapping me, he wrote down my address (no doubt to sell).

"Does anyone recognise the guy?"
